I don't actually remember much sad movies. However the movie "Miracle in Cell No.7" would definitely be a contender for me, next to some anime movies I wont bother writing.
What movie has actually made you cry before, just from the sheer sadness it gave you after/while watching.

There was recently a remade version of "MiCN7" in "Filipino" which is the main Language of the Philippines and after watching it, it still made me cry.

recently a film called Ritual by Hidaeki Anno from 2000, at the end of the movie there is a scene that is very emotional and the acting from the actors was really insane, I never seen anything like that.

The Goldfinch would probably be it. It's not on my favorites list, but so many tragedies continued to happen that I couldn't help but be saddened by it. I read the book first, and it was definitely more heart wrenching than the movie, but the movie did its best, and that best was good. I recommend it.
