After I had a stroke a few years ago I decided to modify my diet and return to regular exercise. For diet, I primarily added fish oil (and oily fish) and began to use a juicer. I also made sure to consume at least one grapefruit per day, and began to pay attention to colored berries (Blackberries, blueberries, cherries, and cranberries, as well as some acai).

For juicing, I use carrots and red cabbage, and may add red apples. I add some of the carrot pulp to the juice in order to include more fiber. I try to either use Grapefruit or juice with pulp. When the body eliminates bad cholesterol, it is excreted through the gall bladder, and there must be fiber for it to bond to in the gut to prevent resorption. Always consume enough fiber when you "juice".

What do you folk think about juiceing and health?

I was hoping for a comment, and am adding my own comment because I realized that I had not succeeded in subscribing to Gateway. I only realized that after making 10 well thought out posts, including starting 2 threads. I am commenting partly to try and get my comments graded in order to actually work on The Forum Wheel.

Please grade the above comment if you are grading. I would hate to have wasted my time making the original post.

I think that juicing is the best way to have breakfast. It packs you tight with nutrients that will give you a lot of strength and awareness throughout the day. I plan on buying a juicer some day. Until then I use a simple blender.

Never tried juicing , but think it would be interesting to try ,and drink different belended fruits and vegetables for more protein in the body. Instead of eating breaded breakfast , also bread for lunch , dinner , drinking nutrients will benefit you in the long run .

I would definitely like to try to see the outcome of the results for my body .

I do not think that there is anything wrong with juicing or even an occasional juice fast. I once watched a documentary where people with severe health problems was put on a juice fast and had significant improvements in their health. However, many people try to do this as a life style and give up solid food permanently (which many people think lack fibber). But if you are adding the fibber back I guess it could be more tolerable.

I have also heard that drinking such high amounts of concentrated fruits and vegetables could lead to over toxicity, so in order to avoid this I would only juice occasionally.

I think Juicing is a fad that needs to go away. Honestly, it can work but for most people its such a major change of diet that they're setting themselves up for failure. There are a lot of other methods and supplements that can provide the same benefits as juicing without the cost behind the produce. But if it's working for you that is wonderful to hear, keep it up! Since you said you have had a stroke, the added CLA oil will definitely help you out. Maybe look into GABA as it's good for relaxing the nerves, if you're in a highly stressful environment it is really helpful. Good luck with your journey and I hope you get well.

When we drink juice, highly concentrated enzymes, minerals and vitamins enter our bloodstream absorbing all the nutritional benefits of the vegetables and fruits. It gives our digestive organs a much required rest.

I believe its best to use up our juices the same day when they are pressed. As the juice meets the air, it gets down to compromise its nutritional value.

My best time to have juice is on a hollow belly. Unfermented juice is always loaded with many health benefits and it maximizes the nutrients in our body.

Juicing is amazing I have one so if you really want to get the full experience of flavor juice apples with oranges, add strawberries and mangoes as well not only the taste is great but the health benefits are the bonus. Think of it like this every morning you wake up still sleepy eyes barley open energy about 20% but now look at this juiced the night before and you wake up 100% energized ready to take the day on head first. Now that is another benefit of a juicer healthy is always better that is why healthier food products cost more then they slap an organic sticker on it so you have to pay extra $20, SO YES BUYING A JUICER IS WORTH THE MONEY.

I think is very healthy. I prefer juices than sodas. Juicing helps you absorb all the nutrients from the vegetables. This is important because most of us have impaired digestion as a result of making less-than-optimal food choices over many years. This limits your body's ability to absorb all the nutrients from the vegetables. Juicing will help to "pre-digest" them for you, so you will receive most of the nutrition, rather than having it go down the toilet.

But we can not forget that juicing machines extract the juice and leave behind the pulp, which has fiber. We have to balance our feeding and be healthy.

I'm not a big fan of juicing because it feels like such a waste. I'd much rather have a smoothie full of all the nutrients I can get in the juice, along with the fiber. There are so many ways to create delicious smoothies packed with all of the essential vitamins you need throughout the day.

The extract some vegetables are healthier to take fruit juice, fruit are made to eat not to take them into juice, because in a glass of fruit juice have about 18 teaspoons of sugar, and consume much sugar every day it is not healthy, I recommend eating the fruit.

I've never tried juicing, but I have been wanting to get a juicer for quite some time now. I saw a program where these people were juicing and lost a lot of weight. I have been wanting to get a juicer and try to lose a lot of weight myself. Every time I am going to buy one I end up having to buy other things and still haven't gotten around to getting a juicer yet. I think it will help in making me a whole lot healthier. I want to get one soon and find a lot of recipes to try.

Juicing is the best way to guarantee you taking in enough nutrients every day. The only problem is that you don't benefit from the vibers that you throw away after juicing, but I eat enough of these in the rest of my diet. It fills you up like a snack, cleans your bowels and, beside all the benefits it is so tasty. Just use a lot more vegetables than fruits, to avoid taking in too much sugar.

I think juicing is a great idea because it is easy to get many nutrients, as the poster above me mentions, and it doesn't take long to drink down a glass of juice. Eating the fruits and vegetables whole takes a lot longer and is kind of a pain. I haven't been juicing, but I have been making smoothies, which also works well for quick nutrition. I just throw some of those dark berries you mention into a blender with some other ingredients and have a pretty healthy snack fast.
