In Philippines, summer months are April and May. Public schools, and other private schools, do not have classes during these months and so we think of it as a grand vacation time. Many of us usually have a bucket list of what to do while kids are at home, and one very common to this list is to go swimming somewhere.

Yesterday, my family went three cities away from home just to enjoy two water wonders of nature, a lake in Marawi, and a waterfall in Iligan City. I guess that is how I should end my summer vacation this year. How about you, how do you spend your summer time? FB_IMG_15590737623608967[1].jpg

I usually spend my summer going to the beach with my family but we could not do that this summer because of COVID-19. I am currently spending my summer reading books and watching all the movies I have been wanting to watch. I am also learning how to speak Japanese since I have a lot of free time.

I usually spend my summers learning new things , for example during this hard period I'm learning how to code and improve my business skills as we pray for everything to go back to normal and schools to be reopened.

Jacquez, wow! That’s a beautiful picture. Sadly, I’ve never been to a lake. I went to a pool once but that hardly accounts for anything, does it?

Japanese is a beautiful language, Mel. I would love to learn it one day but with a different writing system, it probably requires a lot of commitment and hard work. And I’m a wanderer! So for now I’m getting my feet wet in different romance languages. Hopefully I’ll learn enough to sit AP Italian next year.

What language are you learning, Annie? I hope everything goes back to normal too. But if this is the new normal then I have a lot of acceptance to do.

I usually do some sort of volunteer work with animals for a period of time. In the future, I want to work in some sort of veterinary science field, so getting some experience now will hopefully help. I also work a good bit to save up for my education plans and maybe some wants that I have here and there. The best thing I do, however, is go on our yearly trip to the beach. My family and I go to the same place every year, so it's like a home away from home!
