I used to be a scholar and a deans lister during college. I have tried both with and without music while studying or reviewing. For my personal opinion yes it is really enjoyable to study with musics on. The worst part for me when studying with musics on is that the information tend to last shorter. I believe that our brain must focus on one thing and when we are listening to music we also pay attention to the lyrics. Lastly when we are listening to music we tend to procrastinate more.

It depends of the music i'm listening to. Like, listening to some hard rock/metal while calculating something isn't always easy, but relaxing or ambient ones just help me get through the stuff easily. I'd recommend musics like Hans Zimmer's for some epicness or, my favorite artist, Eluvium; just be careful not to fall asleep while doing your exercises !

Without any doubt not! My husband study with music and I don't know how he can concentrate with all that noise.

Any kind of music. If it is too relaxing a want to relax and if it has too much rhythm I want to dance.

I always listened to music while studying. I just learned that scientists say music makes the brain "light up". This means that when you listen to music, your whole brain is working, as opposed to doing activities where only the right side or the left side is lit up.

Music that has no vocals, yes. Especially classical or jazz music, I'd concentrate more with that. Just basic pattern recognition from instrumentals really help improve my cognition compared to the lack of background music. However, music with lyrics like songs have words which interfere with the mind and prevent me from learning efficiently. So, I'd very much prefer not to listen to songs while studying. "Adrenaline-rush" music like heavy metal or rock is also bad because I get too excited and that ruins my concentration

Studying with cool music in the background has always worked for me.It's not as if I cannot read with complete silence too but the ability to read with little music in the background makes me alert and wide awake. In some situations where I have read in complete silence,After sometime,I start getting bored and sleepy,But with music in the background,The mental alertness is there for me.

I like reading in a quiet environment, I don't like reading and listening to music at the same time.

Music will distract me whenever I am reading. I like a quiet and serene environment to digest whatever information I want in.

I prefer studying without music to avoid noise disturbance. I like to read at night because more people are sleeping at that time and there is not much noise. I also like going to the library because there is not much noise and it is a quite place.

I always study while listening to music and if I don't, I can't understand much. It helps me to concentrate because when I read, it's like the music plays in the background and keeps my mind from thinking about other things.

If I get distracted it's only for a few minutes but that is if I listen to a new song. Thus I listen to one song on repeat, my mind gets used to it and I'm not tempted to sing along.

A big "NO" for me. I like studying in a very quiet environment, if I want to fully understand what am studying.

Study time means quiet time for me. This means even the background music wouldn't be entertained.

People are different though, some may prefer studying while the music is on whereas others like me for instance would prefer a nice and quiet enviroment.

Night study is the best for me since am able to concentrate more because most people are asleep thus less movement and activities.

As a student, yes. I prefer studying with music because of my strategies, I always listen to music that can contribute relaxations. On my observations whenever I listen to music while studying, it can increase or build my concentrations and disrupts those things that interfere me.
Most of the time, I listen to classical piano music like Mozart because it's the best effective way to easily memorize things you desire. Some people say studying with music provides disturbance because it produces noises.
While I'm listening to classical music, it practices me to memorize a standard 52 deck of cards.

I prefer listening to music while studying. For some reason, I study better with music in the background. It keeps engaged and I can concentrate on whatever I'm studying.

I listen to rap and r&b but sometimes I listen to classical music.

We have different styles of studying. Some do visual imagery, some use flashcards, some read their notes but the most commonly used method is memorisation. My studying style is reading and understanding the concepts so I can retain these information and recall it easily when it's quiz time. Every time I study, I eliminate distractions including music to focus completely on what I am reading. In other words, I prefer studying without music.

I neither prefer it nor recommend it to anyone because when you are doing one thing you should put your full concentration and effort in it. Multitasking will create mistakes in both the works which you do at a time. So it is better to study without music. After you finish studying you can find yourself a good time for listening to music peacefully. By this way you could complete your studies fast and also you can enjoy the music later.

I do like listening to music while reading but I don't listen much when I study. If I listen to music when studying, I choose those songs who have no lyrics because I easily get distracted. I think the reason behind it because I need to invest more brainpower in studying and remember more details to pass exams.

I love listening to music while doing household chores because it makes me more lively but this is not the case when it comes to studying. I easily get distracted by the smallest things so I do not listen to music when I am studying.

This really applies to me as well! Many people often ask me how I'm able to concentrate while singing along to songs, and I'm sure people as you that too. Music in the background really improves my focus because I tend to get easily bored with silence. Who doesn't want to listen to good music, right?

I also listen to R&B and classical music when studying, but unlike you, I avoid rap because it's not really my cup of tea.

Though, it's what works for you. I personally prefer cool songs and a serene environment. It goes along with each other.

I always listen to pop songs when I start studying and my mother absolutely hates it. She believes that I should just focus my attention on one thing instead of focusing it on both the music and my studies. But listening to songs when I'm studying helps me stay awake when I'm reading through boring content and I just find it easier to study when I listen to music. It depends on personal preferences though. Some of my friends like studying with music and some of the others cannot stand it.
