Yesterday as I was doing my normal morning run, I saw a 8 year old girl also exercising. It was nice looking at her but then I wondered what is the appropriate age to start exercising.

I think as long as you can walk, you can start exercising. Exercising is great for everyone.

I think exercising should be for everyone despite age. However the length and type of workout you do should be a little more suited depending on your age group since our bodies develop in different stages at different ages. It is nice to start young so you can start building your strength but then again it is never too late to start working out.

Whenever. Anyone can start anytime. You can start running whenever, you can weight lift whenever, you can start rock climbing whenever. The only limit is yourself.

No, it doesn't stunt your growth. No, the fact that you're a child won't mean that your muscles don't repair themselves. Start anytime. The appropriate age is the moment you're able to do that specific activity.

I feel like any age is okay, especially when it comes to youth sports, but it there always has to be the right reasons. I feel like it's not okay for young children to start exercising for the sake of weight loss, as I have seen from personal experience that exercising for the sake of weight loss from a young age can lead to the development of an eating disorder due to the emphasis on weight and the potential of obsessive over-exercising. Besides that, if the exercising is just for fun and health such as playing in the backyard or joining a junior soccer team, I'd say it is good for kids to get into it early, not only for physical development, but for social development as well.

Exercising has it's reasons, people don't just exercise for the fun of it. There is always a reason behind it and it can start as early as 5 years depending on what the problem could be. It could be because of a medical condition or maybe lifestyle issues, so we all have different reasons, ideally it's all about an individual there's no appropriate age.

I think anyone of any age can exercise. Even if they aren't doing it with exercise in mind, many activities for little ones give them a good work out while also having fun.

You can bring your baby in floaties to the local pool, have an at home dance party with your kindergartener, and sign your first grader up for a local soccer team! All of these could be considered exercise, though they are not done with the intent to exercise per say.

After all, exercise isn't exclusively lifting weights and running on a treadmill (a lesson many adults would do well to learn!). Plus, its benefits are good for people of all ages, physically and mentally. Your child will be healthy while also learning that exercise can be fun. It will teach young ones habits that will keep them healthy for the rest of their lives.

I don't think there's really a specific age to do sport because when you're young you do sport in kindergarten and then in school. Of course, it shouldn't be something heavy because children's muscles are different from adults' but if you want your child to be flexible, I think yoga or dancing wouldn't be bad. Otherwise, enjoy doing sports together with your child from time to time where you can spend time together. That in itself is also something positive.

There is no age to exercise as long as the child is allowed to be a child.
