With the release of the PS5 promo, it got me thinking about how much money and effort developers are putting into high-end graphics engines, and honestly I wonder if it's worth it. I'm probably showing my age here, but the jump from PS4 to PS5 (or even PS3 to PS4) didn't impress me as much as the jump from PS2 to PS3. All it seems to do is make games take longer to develop and eat into resources making games shorter and less interesting.

In fairness, I'm talking about the AAA end of the industry rather than the indie scene. But since the AAA industry has transformed into a microtransaction and lootbox factory, I've been happy to basically stop buying AAA games since the PS3 era.

For me its very important , i'd prefer playing in 35 FPS on 4k rather than 60 fps on 1440P

For me they're very important since they add so much to the experience, but at the same time I don't think it's so important that other specs should be lowered in order to raise the graphics level. I think it is important to remember that graphics aren't the only factor for the gameplay experience and that other things are important as well.

Graphics actually matter to me,even though I have a pretty weak PC I don't like games that have that bad graphics. I mean, just think about playing a game with a storyline, physics and anything else like GTA 5 but the graphics being like GTA 3,I wouldn't like that even if I have a bad PC.

To be honest, I spent most of my life playing on a lower end PC, so I'm pretty biased. That being said, I don't really care about high end graphics. I also get a lil motion sick when playing games with incredible graphics. I'd much prefer something like Celeste to something like Red Dead Redemption 2, but that's just my personal opinon.

For me, I like having a difference depending on the game. If it's a slower-paced exploration or horror game, I much prefer higher graphics. Comparatively, when it comes to more fast-paced games, I prefer performance while still upholding decent graphics, that way the game looks good when it's slower, but also plays well when it's high-action.

To me, high-end graphics are good as long as they don't get in the way of the game's performance since I have a low-end PC. Overall it would be nice but I don't need it as long as I can play the game.

If I were to play every day, then the high-end graphics would be crucial. But of course I prefer better fps over graphics as the graphics don't really affect the gameplay as much. If the game has low fps and is laggy, it can really affect your gaming results but if you play on a 1080p or a 4k screen, it doesn't really matter that much.

Graphics are nice and all, but I honestly put them behind having a good story and/or good playability. A game can look absolutely beautiful, but if it's boring, what's the point? Am I playing a character I care about? Am I into the story? Am I actually immersed into the game and having fun with the game? Or am I just looking at pretty things?
I mean, look at Minecraft. Terrible base visuals, but wildly popular, because the options of what you can do with the game are endless.
