For many years I have started businesses with the notion of leaving my children a way to have a better life. I have also invested in real estate for the same reason. After 30 years I am seeing the results of my hard labor into the 3rd generation in my own family. I have been able to help my brothers and sisters and their children and grandchildren as well!

Looking at all the financial issues due to COVID 19 and how so many people are struggling to survive I can honestly say, boy I am so happy I started building generational wealth at the young age of 27. At the time I was a scared kid with two children to provide for and I knew nothing.

Today, I tell my younger self Thank You for taking a chance on yourself and starting a business and investing in real estate!

What do you thank your younger self for doing?

Congratulations to you. It is good to plan your future at a young age, so that you can enjoy the benefits at your old age. Some times, things do not go as planned due to some set backs but we must always have a plan B to forge ahead. I am happy with where I am today because my life is going well as planned with little or no regrets. So I thank my younger self for a job well done.

I think the best and smartest thing my younger self has ever done was not taking on any meaningful amounts of debt. Most of my ventures haven't panned out in any meaningful way, and even some of my better successes were not able to be sustained in the long term. I take the wins where I can get them and try to learn from the mistakes, but I definitely think not being in debt is probably the best thing I have going for me. It's a self-perpetuating cycle and I've been lucky to have been able to avoid it thus far.
