Humanity are on the constant pursuit of better and better records in sports. For the past few decades, there has been countless of changes in the sports stage. Athletes have been using better shoes, opted for better diets, and all of these are for the purpose of improving performance in sports.

Year after year Olympic records are being broken. If we legalize the use of performance-enhancing drugs wouldn’t that help propel the sports stage?

It depends on what you want from the Olympics. Do you really just compete to push the limits, or do you want to keep the value of playing sports? Sure, you can break records easily using drugs, but did you keep the integrity of the sport. No. If sports were to go down that route, it would not be the better athlete that won, but the person who got the best performance-enhancing drugs.

I think not, because it would be like that:
    • The more rich you are, the better results you get (better drugs etc.)
    • there would be several black markets

Absolutely not in my opinion that is cheating because you are adding extra chemicals to enhance your performances and its not fair to those that train hard at all hours of the day just to come and get beat by somebody who probably only trained a couple of times because they knew they were going to get enhanced performance chemicals. Also, it would defeat the purpose of the Olympics instead of them showing off their natural skills will become the competition of who has the better enhancement and the enjoyment of the sports will be lost forever.

I don't know because many are using doping already now, but they are not just caught. If there are some restrictions, somebody will always find a way to cheat. However, if drugs would be allowed, it creates a noticeable health-risk, because everybody would use drugs as much as possible. So maybe, I don't see any reason to change policies. In my opinion, there's not a good alternative.

People have made jobs finding loopholes in agreements, the introduction of these drugs would be opening up a door much better left locked. Athletes, even if it becomes legal, will still find ways to cheat the system and performance-enhancing drugs will keep getting stronger as the demand for more 'powerful' hits increases. Sport competitions are based on the level of someones skill in their area of sport, if we legalize performance-enhancing drugs to any athlete it's no longer who's has the most skill, but who's got the most money for these drugs. It longer becomes a fair game; what about people who have allergies or what if easier access to these drugs mean a higher increase in overdoses or heath problems in the Sporting sector.

I do worry that performance enhancing drugs may harm the athletes that use them, however, if they can be used safely I think that there should be a entire other portion of the Olympics dedicated to just athletes who use them. I think it would be really interesting to see what our bodies can really do with a little extra help.

This way, athletes would have a choice of whether they want to use them or not without feeling pressured. Also, it would still be a fair game since enhanced athletes would only compete with other enhanced athletes and vice versa.

Of course, the law must also be taken into consideration! Perhaps this will be a reality for future generations.

I would have to say performance enhancing drugs would not make the Olympics good. You would of course see things that you have not seen before. It would be cheating for that being normal. If you want to kill any sport you will let enhancing drugs be normal. But i am not in favor of that at all.
