No philosophy without mentioning Socrates,Aristotle and Plato. They were great critical thinkers who came up with many theories in different fields. Many theories we believe in are as a result of their thinking.Thye have contributed in many fields we are learning today at different levels of education.Critical thinking was taught in school in ancient Greek as a subject.

Can we have critical thinkers in the modern generation?

It may be relatively baseless, but I believe that there's not really that much difference between people now and people then. The critical thinkers from the ancient era were brilliant, but they weren't the only people, just the only ones that we've decided to remember.

We all have a voice, now. The internet, television, radio, printed media, and even skywriting have opened us up to a level of interaction that we can't process. Companies like Google used to be meant for connecting us to the thoughts and experiences of others more quickly and easily, but their mission has changed to cutting out the "noise". I can wholeheartedly agree that this convenience could drive a majority of us(and I'm no exception) into complacency. But, we are critical of so many things, still. "Flat Earthers" are critical of certain established principles of nature. Other people are critical of their criticism.

I think that critical thought is being dangerously manipulated, as with partisan politics, but no more or less than centuries ago. Aristophanes showed criticism of Socrates and a very similar manner to comedians, now, toward other public figures.

I may be way off base. and would sincerely enjoy your feedback to my belief.
