The two words certainly could not be interchanged. They aren't synonymous, so choose where you stand.

I like to consider myself spiritual, but not religious, especially as I was raised Catholic. Having been part of a religion, especially one that dominates (and dominated) so much of the world for so long, I know it's not for me. Organized belief in a figurehead just doesn't feel as personal or loving as a one-on-one connection with the universe, like I think we all have.

I consider myself as both. Man is a spiritual being, and religion provides a system to manifest spirituality. I'm a Catholic, and I believe that when Jesus came down on Earth, he built the Church and sent the Holy Spirit to guide it. I think the two are intertwined and should not exist without the other.

I was raised Catholic from birth and have already gone through almost all the sacraments. However, as I grew older, I discovered spirituality. I believe in omnism, which means that I don't believe in one religion and think that only one religion is the truth, but that every religion has something in common and something true about it. I am still catholic but I respect every kind of faith and would like to get to know all of them.

I have given this question a lot of thought over the weekend and I have come to the conclusion that there is a way to be both. Religion gives us a foundation for our beliefs. It gives us guidelines and boundaries, as well as, knowledge to base our spirituality on. Now, I do refer to myself as a more spiritual person and not a religious person because I believe that the spiritual implies more of a relationship with our "higher power." Religion implies rules, rituals and to most people, a list of what is right and wrong. I prefer to live my life in the knowledge that my "higher power" is out there, helping me and listening to me. It is not a matter of right and wrong or a list of rules to follow, on the contrary, it is a feeling within my soul that tells me; I am not alone. It gives me hope and a purpose to live in a spiritual sense. To be kind to others and try to live peacefully with everyone.

I am mostly spiritual. I have grown up around religion, but when I was able to research my own opinions I soon felt as if religion has been twisted over the years. My spiritual journey has helped me with mental illnesses that other beliefs have not. With spirituality I believe there’s no real “end”, you’re able to continue ascending past the life you live now. On the opposing spectrum, like religion, I feel as if there’s almost a goal to the end. Why not just enjoy life now instead of constantly thinking of the end?

I'm more spiritual than religious, the Bible said those that want to worship God should worship him in spirit and in truth.
So why been religious when your spiritual life is nothing to write home about, I pray everyday for spiritual growth and work on my spiritual aspect of my life to be better
