First death as an attending doctor.

    I recently had my first patient die while I was the attending doctor. I never knew it would be this difficult.
    Moreover, the patient was a young guy who suddenly collapsed after a snake bite and we were unable to resuscitate even after repeated attempts.
    It was truly disturbing.

    I'm sorry you had to go through that experience. I'm a registered nurse in the emergency department, so I have seen a few people die. It's one of the most frustrating and heartbreaking things, especially when they are young.

    I remember my first death as a nurse occurred when I was working on an inpatient unit. We did everything we could to resuscitate, but eventually the doctor looked up and called time of death. The family wasn't there, so the patient died alone.
