That is absolutely true. I have a TV at home and barely use it since everything is on the internet now. The TV would appear to be a vital piece of furniture by 20th century standards. However, in this day and age, its importance slowly wanes day by day as more people rely on the internet now for their needs.

I definitely use my computer as a TV. Mainly because I miss when my shows come on and I have to watch from the beginning. I also do not like commercials so it works out better for me to watch online. I also wear glasses so i can never really see the TV anyway when I do not have glasses on so it is easier to watch on my computer. I also never get TV time because my daughter is always watching it. I can go to another room but she would follow anyway. So I just stick to my computer.

Yes, the internet has replaced my TV function, but not all. Usually I use YouTube to watch movies. I also use the internet more often than using the TV. However, I still use both the TV and internet separately.

When you are at work you usually do not have the time to watch your favorite programmes. Even following the latest news becomes impossible sometimes. Most people have found it easier to go online and download whatever they had missed on that day, from news to soaps. This has rendered the tv less useful as it used to be sometime back.

Very much so. I no longer have cable and my television is just used when I power up one of my gaming consoles.
The future is customisation, the ultimate in customisation is to decide exactly what you want to watch when you want to watch it. I now have a very low tolerance for just sitting in front of the television and being the victim of somebody else's choices. Who knows your viewing choices better than yourself - the only limit is your imagination. The very best in television is out there on the internet, its simply a case of finding it and paying for it.

Yes definitely! Internet provides much more choices and entertainment than television. The television at my house has been upgraded to one of these smart TVs where you can actually go to YouTube or search online for movies, functioning like a computer! My mum loves it very much and we would just use the television to watch YouTube of Netflix. It is so much more convenient!

I have preferred the internet over the TV for 5 years now. (I say this because I've made this statement before.) The upper hand of the internet when it comes to TV shows, is its replay ability and power to choose your content. The latter is very important to me. With cable TV, what and when you are able to watch on cable depends mainly on the channel and service provider. The internet also allows you to browse through user-generated content (think YouTube or Dailymotion) and this generally increases your choice of content. With that said, you mustn't forget about current smart TVs which are basically television sets integrated with internet features. We have a smart TV at home and HD TV is honestly pretty.

By far. The Internet has replaced my TV. There is such a convenience, with watching a movie on line. No commercial breaks. You can pause and rewind. You can watch when it's convenient to you. There is so much content on the Internet, I think that television is now obsolete.

Definitely yes. I watch a lot of TV shows and since they air barely any of them in my country (or it takes them million years to air the new season) I can't imagine being limited by it. Not anymore. And also on TV there are just so many commercials. If I happen to watch something on TV sometimes the commercials takes so long that I even forget what I'm watching. Also let's not forget about many TV shows being aired at totally inconvenient times. No wonder that they don't air any proper shows here, when there is nobody to watch them at 11pm on a week day.

I could say that Internet is the new generation of television. Why? because all of the components of a television is already in a computer or laptop. Plus the functionality of social media connections and having the ability to manipulate data.

With a high-end laptop, you could watch movies and stream television channels or cable channels with a few clicks while eating your favorite food. Another thing is that you could multi-task in the computer like watching a television while downloading a movie from a torrent websites. Portability is a plus-factor to consider that internet is the new age of getting knowledge and entertainment. :)

I'd have to say it has. For at least the last six months or more I have been like an internet 'junkie'. I used to be quite a CNN addict but once I was introduced to the world of online work, my laptop goes everywhere I go. I went from one addiction to the other. In the absence of my laptop I have a couple cell phones that keep me connected as well.

I think my laptop is getting a little tired and it's telling me that the battery has to be replaced. Some days, it slows right down on me. I guess it's only 'human' and needs to take it easy at times.

While I have good reason to be online at present, I hope to be able to return to a more balanced approach to my life. Those simple things that don't require the internet should not be forgotten. I have to always remind myself of this and for that reason I am considering going to the Drive-In tonight.

It's 50/50 with me. Yes I'm on the internet a lot because I work on line. I still watch my tv. While I'm working I record my favorite shows. Just like I did when I was working outside of my home. It would be weird for me not to have a tv in my living room. Not only it's there for entertainment, but it's part of my furniture as well.

I have a TV at home which I use to watch news while using forums. I use the internet to watch videos on YouTube or animes.

For entertainment, the Internet replaces my TV!

I would never replace my TV with my computer. There is nothing like sitting on the couch with a bowl of popcorn or a bag of chips in one hand and a nice cold soda in the other watching my favorite shows. Sitting looking at a computer screen just makes my eyes tired and makes me feel like I should be doing work. I would be worrying about checking my email or Twitter feed. I do think that the computer can be an extra component of how you enjoy your TV shows, for instance, The Walking Dead has story sync where you can watch the show and take quizzes, polls, and learn information about the episode of the show your watching. It enhances your viewing experiences. But I can't image my computer replaces my television.

Well, i agree with you in that point. Now I watch on the PC. Most of my recreational time is spent on the PC, and I even get my news there now. I think TV is only really enjoyable when watching with others or when watching football matches.

That is an interesting question. The internet hasn't replaced tv right now but it seems as though we are headed in this direction in the near future. With major tv companies partnering up with technology services, streaming tv over the internet is the next wave of the future. This is a way to further reach consumers. I think it will take over as laptops did over desktop computers in the home.

The only time I watch TV is when I go to sleep, so I won't need to turn the computer off, etc. At the moment, I don't have an Apple Tv at my room but if I had one I wouldn't watch TV at all.

With all this new services TV is getting outdated, nowadays it is more about watch what you want and without ads, which people like a lot. I hope we can start getting more options to watch TV on our's PCs and just drop TV cable.

Yes it has. As a matter of fact I just recently got rid of my satellite TV. There was really nothing on it that I couldn't watch online. The best part about watching things online is that you don't have to put up with all the commercials. I don't miss that. I usually can find the news online so I can keep up with the latest. I thought at first that I might miss the TV but I really don't miss it at all.

Here in my place, we are no longer subscribed to a TV provider. We don’t have antenna so the only time I open my TV is when I want to watch a DVD. From my point of view, I think that the internet replaced my TV in terms of entertainment. The internet has everything and you can watch TV shows without being interrupted by commercials.
