With the massive growth of the video game industry I have noticed that people are playing good old fashioned games less and less. It seems like the only people who still play games like chess are old folks. I find this kind of sad myself. I love breaking out a deck of cards or the checkerboard and playing a few rounds with the family.

Don't get me wrong. I love playing a good video game every now and then. Relaxing in the game room and playing some Assassins Creed is great. I also like online games that are challenging. However, I'd be interested to hear what sort of old fashioned games people still playing.

Are there any that you enjoy?

I've never been able to get into video games. I've just never seen the appeal. I love what you call old fashioned games. A simple game I really enjoy is dominoes. At first glance, it's simplistic and boring, but when you get into, it requires thought and some strategy. I also enjoy another "tile" game called Rummy-O - it's kind of like dominoes meets gin rummy. Another favorite is backgammon - again another game that's easy to learn, but requires skill and strategy.

I also like the good old fashioned games like monopoly, yatzee, gin, hearts, spades.

I love computer and phone games as much as the next girl, but my sister and I play board and card games a few times a week. We have a 7 year monopoly tournament for "Champion Of The Universe". We also get on some Backgammon, Yahtzee and cards. It's a great way for us to get some bonding time in and work our brain muscles.

Mostly I like games that can be played without needing any real objective. Taboo and Mad Gab are two that come to mind. They are both games that are fun to just set up with some friends and have some fun spewing random words out. No need to worry about keeping score or deciding a winner - just keep going until you get bored. Or just getting out the cards is always a good time. However, I'm always up for a game of Monopoly, and I get pretty competitive when I play.

Lately I haven't played any board games, but in the recent past I've played some with my family. The ones I enjoy most are probably Scattergories and Scrabble.

I am not really one for video gaming, however old fashioned games such as cards, trouble, bingo, and connect four for example are my favourites. Also, outdoor games such as man hunt and "boys catch girls/girls catch boys" are irreplaceable.

I love playing monopoly, cards, dominos and retro arcade games. Zelda, breath of fire and Pokémon are also among my favorite list. I feel like these games take you back to your childhood days and gives you an appreciation of how far we have come in the gaming industry.

I haven't played board games in a while. My family and I used to play all the time, then our lives got busy and we stopped playing. Some of my favorites that I loved were UNO, Scrabble, Scattergories, and Clue.

I love my old fashion nintendo 64! I played that console every day when I was young and I still like to break it out every now and then! I personally loved the pokemon stadium games, and ocarina of time!

I'm 23 years old and my go to board game is chess, Uno. I learn how to play in 5th grade, I was the second best. My school was going to go to New York for a tournament. Sadly my principal said, " Football is a real sport and it deserves more attention." So a week after that our chess class got canceled.

I still remember what I learned and I play with my mom when ever she is up to it. I never win, she just to good, but this gives me the chance to improve in my game.

I like playing all sorts of games in nearly every genre on my computer. I have made a good effort to keep up with many different types over the decades. I've played on computers using different operating systems too. Who can still recall the old DOS games, or the Amstrad computer games, or even those on the old Commodore 64? Now they were games that really made you think!

From my earliest childhood memories, I cannot recall a time when I wasn't either playing a board game, a card game or some other game or making one from scratch. Even the best computer games of today just cannot come close to compensating for the feeling you get from interacting with other amazing human beings whilst playing a game. Forget the LAN parties of the 1990's which were all too intense and competitive. We need to slow down a little sometimes and feel we are in control of setting our own pace again. We need to return to a time where we played games for the sake of mutual enjoyment and to generate a jovial atmosphere or just to enjoy spending time with others.

Sadly, I play very few games these days. It seems the priority is always money or another pursuit to improve our lot in life.

If I'm in the mood to just chill and not button mash, I'd go for Uno or Clue. I've been trying to get my hands on a Clue game board and get people involved, but there's always some excuse to why they don't want to play. Sometimes, I don't WANT to have my eyes glued on a screen. I'd like to preserve what since of distorted vision my glasses wearing self has, thanks. Only one I can get my boyfriend to play willingly is Operation because of the obnoxious sounds it makes.

I would have to say Connect four. My daughter received it as a Christmas present. Her and her sister were playing it all day and she was reveling in how she was destroying her little sister. Then she challenged her mother and they went at it for a while. Finally she asked me to play against her. Keep in mind that I have never played this game before. But as we began to play, I did not take it seriously at first. She won the first game. The second game, I won by accident. I really wasn't trying. But that one win piqued my interest and the more that I played it the more that I liked it. Finally my wife challenged me and I beat her miserably the first time in a very short period of time. We played it again and I was close to victory when she made a statement. She said that if I wanted to 'connect' later on that night, then I better let her win. Needless to say, I lost that game.
