I prefer to work out at home. I like the privacy I have - wearing whatever clothes I want, whether it be a polka dot shirt with striped shorts or what have you. I also like that if I can't handle the moves I am doing, I can stop and catch my breath. Also, when I am done, I can sprawl out on the floor and cry! Haha! Even though the gym here is free for town residents, I find it much easier to do at home, rather than being in a crowd trying to do my own thing.

I suggest going to the gym for a beginner. You have the advantage of privacy, by having a gym at home. But the wrong use of the gym equipment may cause your health. If you have good knowledge about physical workout and gym equipment you can set personal gym at home. But in the beginning you should work under gym instructor. That will give you enough knowledge about your health safety.

I prefer work out at home, no one will disturb you while you are exercising. You will be able to remain focused and have a faster, more productive work out. Work out at home can save me more money rather than paying expensive membership in the gym. Those are the major reasons why working out at home is the right choice for me.

I like to work out at home. When I am working out at home, there is no distractions and I am not self -conscious. I hate going to the gym because I feel like people are looking what whatever you are doing and judging you. In my home I have my privacy and I can just walk a several steps to my kitchen and get some water. so, working out at home is right for me.

I would prefer working out at home but it is more practical for me at this point in time to go to the gym. Lol I am actually in the process of buying a new home and once I do so I will be setting up my home gym and doing all my workouts there. For now since I don't have a decline leg press machine, among other types of weight lifting equipment I love, I will be content with Gold's Gym.

I do not prefer either one! I am retired and as such I do not work any longer. I do not work out, work in, work above, work beyond nor am I any longer a workaholic. I do not work.

As a retired person I would rather tell my wonderful wife I am going to go out and get real tired as opposed to re-tired. Which by the way is a conflict for I do not understand how someone can get re-tired. Is that kind of a do-over from the night before? As in, last night I hit the gym and got tired. Tonight I am going to do the same except I am going to re-tire because my last nights tired didn't work out as planned. I do digress and humbly offer my apologies.

Actually I do some excercizing which I call play and it is done at home. It is far better than working out at some gym, and more than that I have had to work with dumbells and dead weights all of my working life so why would I wish to do that when I am supposed to be re-tired, tired, or whatever I am supposed to be!
How about "pensioner" perhaps,......yes, I like that. "A pensioner with muscles." sweet!

I would still prefer to do real work. By that, i'm referring to work where you get paid after, not like working out where you are the one who would be paying after. Well, you know, because cash coming in is better than cash coming out right? Which is why working out, either at home or in the gym, will always be secondary. But if it ever comes to that, I would prefer gym workout. The gym's atmosphere (not the odor) sets you in the mood to work out. I guess this applies, " Walk with those the same direction as you". Also, if you work-out at home, you would have to acquire solely all the equipment you'll need. It's a bit of a high-value, high-risk investment because what happens if you get lazy or can't work-out anymore due to whatever reasons. It might be unlikely but it isn't impossible.

I will always prefer to go to the gym than working out at home.Surely, working out at home has its own advantage like having the leisure of stopping when you want but wait leisure and hard work should not go together in first place. On the other hand, working out in gym have always made me push that extra mile. For the beginners, they may feel working out at home much more preferable with all the privacy and lack of attention they can have but having a professional instructor at the gym guiding you all along could really maximize the return from the same amount of efforts that you put in exercising at home.

I definitely prefer working out at home. Privacy and you can really let loose. My favorite cardio is to dance and dance hard and lets be honest, i'm not going to let go like that in the gym. :p

I totally prefer to work out at home. It's just a matter of getting into the habit of doing it, just as you have to get into the habit of going to the gym. Paying for the gym gives you a motivation to go because you don't want to waste that money. I told my girlfriend to charge me the equivalent of a gym subscription if I didn't work out at home, and it worked for me. After a couple of months I was already used to getting up for a workout at home with no excuses.

I find gyms very impersonal and expensive. I've been getting into working out with bodyweight exclusively and I find it very rewarding and more natural than using all the fancy equipment gyms have.

I like to work out at gym. Home workouts are popular for their accommodation, which is the reason I worked out at home for a few years. But when I started to exercise at the gym, I noticed some great benefits over home workouts, and now I’m in the best shape. Gyms don’t offer much else to do besides exercise. When a person invests in something, they will care about it more. Going to the gym also requires an extra time investment to drive there. My home is full of distractions like computer, TV, and dog.

    I do a mix.

I do my heavy bag workouts at home. I do my lifting and conditioning at the gym. I could technically lift from home because I have a full free weight set up. However, my squat rack doesn't have safety rails like a power cage does and I never squat heavy unless I am in the cage. So for safety purposes, I lift at the gym.

I really like the days where I workout at home though because it is great just being able to finish, have my post workout drink, and then hop in the shower and relax. No driving.

While I would like to say that I like to work out in a gym, I simply can't help myself and feel a bit nervous about making the first step to actually go there and start getting used to it. I am deathly afraid due to my incredible shyness. Maybe one day I'll get over my fears and start working out at a gym, because I have no doubt I could get a better workout over there, but for now, I'll have to settle for the equipment I have in my own home.

I used to workout at home doing cardio on the elyptical trainer. Now I just go to the gym because it keeps me more motivated to work out in an environment where everyone is working out and there are trainers available to help me when needed. Also I can't get access to all the gym equipment or weight lifting equipment neccessary to do the job and keep me toned. I highly recommend going to the gym for anyone.

I guess it will depends on the person's fitness requirements. Like for me, I do home workout on a regular basis to help improve my degree of mental sharpness and to have a better memory, reaction time and concentration. I believe a moderate workout program can help me maintain my strength and flexibility.

I prefer going to the gym. I will not be able to do exercise at home because there are distractions and I usually end up logging in to the internet. Plus working at home doesn't get me to the workout mode. Whenever I'm in the gym I see people working hard to be fit and healthy and that inspires me to do the same.

I prefer to work out at home. I feel that there is no reason for me to pay for a gym membership. I have a Roku box connected to my TV that has a lot of exercise channels and YouTube has a variety of free workout channels. I use YouTube's Xhit channel a lot and I really enjoy it. They have everything from cardio to yoga. I also get a lot of workout ideas from Pinterest. With all of this new technology I personally would not waste my money to go to a gym when I have so many resources at home.

I would rather work at the gym, because I get to get out of the house and have a little break from the daily basis mommy and wifey duties. I currently workout at home because I have no time to go to a gym so I work with what I have.

I would like to get to a point where working out at home is more of an option for me but I don't have all the equipment that the gym offers. I don't feel it's neccessary to go to the gym but it's more convenient in that sense to me. One other thing I prefer with going to the gym is that extra motivation it gives me verses working out at home. Maybe at some point, buying the P90X videos will work for me but I'm not physically able to do those exercises. I do have a recumbent bike and some weights but I must say it gets kind of boring. I like more variety.

I don't get enough time to go to gym due to my busy schedule. I do 30 minutes workout every morning at my home, with my personal trainer. Well, ask me who is my personal trainer!!! YouTube.com

I totally agree with you. I love to pop in my P90x workouts and just bang out my workouts. I do not have to worry about traveling to the gym, packing for the gym, and showering at the gym. With all the work that I have to do at home working out at home helps alot!
