The African rural population lacks access to correct and updated information on health matters. An example is my rural home where a child may easily die of Malaria as the parents or relatives believe black magic was used by an enemy on the child. This is very rampant thinking especially when conditions like fistula or breached labor are not understood. Inadequate health workers among other factors contribute to this phenomenon.

Not only is there ignorance on this topic but there seems to be even worse no concern by "the powers that be" towards the populous of the rural areas of Africa. I look first at each of the respective governments. It is their obligation to provide these basic necessities for their people. This scenario is unfortunately all too common throughout the continent. As long as government corruption and no sense of urgent responsibility runs rampant these folks will unfortunately continue to suffer.

I feel pity for them. I think there's really a need for modernization in those areas though somehow, they're the ones who's refusing to accept such. Those superstitious beliefs will kill them if they will continue believing in them. As you have said, inadequate health workers also contribute to this kind of problems. Because they're blinded by their culture, they won't believe in western medicine and instead, they will apply their beliefs and traditions. Oh Africa!
