Brazilian Presidential Candidate Stabbed

Congressman Jair Bolsonaro was stabbed in the stomach during a street rally in the city of Juiz de Fora on Thursday September 6th. Reports are that the congressman was being carried on the shoulders of supporters when he was attacked by a man who claimed to be "on a mission from God."

Bolsonaro became famous for his stance that the police should increase killings of dangerous criminals and drug gang members. While his supporters views this controversy as the antidote in a system of corruption, the congressman has no doubt angered many Brazilians who claim to be as terrified of the police as they are of criminals.

According to The Guardian, Bolsonaro is currently recovering from surgery at a hospital in São Paolo.
