Lately television is all about sex, violence, and who has all the riches. Reality TV is full of controversy and scandal. Anything we were taught was wrong is now being glorified. Although TV is not a teacher it becomes a step ladder to the way we think. Don't get me wrong we have a lot of good shows that show more of the family spirit and unity. But those shows are less advertised. No guts no glory i guess. I just feel we need to be more careful of what we eat. theoretically speaking.

No I don't believe all television is bad because there are still wholesome shows on that are good for all ages. I'm not too much into the Reality TV and when I see it I usually change the channel. The shows I like watching are sometimes comedies, dramas, and spiritually uplifting ones. I usually stay away from the very bad ones and just go with the wholesome family shows that I grew up on.

I think it really depends on each individual TV show or movie. There are some great educational shows that provide a lot of useful information. On the other hand, there are way too many TV shows that have too much violence and sexuality. Even some of the cartoons for children are bad.

I think it is up to the parent to control what their children watch. It is easy to set locks on the TV so that children can't watch a channel or specific TV show, but many people don't use that feature.

Some shows do push the limits with the amount of violence and sex. However, there are plenty of good shows on the air. Some TLC reality such as The Little Couple are family oriented and set a good example for people. Also, there are plenty of shows on The Discovery Channel and The History Channel that are educational.

Carol, I really enjoy the shows that come on the Investigation Discovery Channel as well as TLC and The History Channel. They are mostly about crimes and show you how brutal some people can be. Some of these have violence in them, but they are also educational. From watching them, you can learn how to protect yourself so that you don't end up in the same situations.

It really depends on what you plan on watching. I've seen a lot of people that get brainwashed by the TV because they only watch reality shows and bad movies.
What's broadcasted on TV can be quite educational actually, you just have to filter out the bad ones.

I do believe TV is becoming bad. I say this because plenty of the "Mainstream" TV is full of smut and is not good for the morals of one person. Sure it might be popular, but if you don't want your kids to watch it, then it is not good for yourself.

Well it depends...back in the 90s.
We had cartoon shows that will show us that if you do bad things, bad things will happen.
If you did good things good, things will happen to you.
It really depends who is watching what and how they interpret it in their brains.
If a kid watches a show that had violence. Would he/she think violence is okay?
If a kid watches someone steal something from a store, is it okay for him/her to also steal?
I remember I stole some Pokemon cards from a store and my mother beat me with a belt
I learned that stealing was wrong and to never ever do it again.
But it all depends, who is watching what these days....
Parents should have some control on what their children watch too on television because shows like Family Guy or South Park are horrible shows to expose their children to at a young age.

Television in its entirety is not bad but I feel as though we must be careful the types of shows we watch on a regular basis. I firmly believe in the universal law of attraction which pretty much implies whatever we take in through thought, hearing, and seeing has an effect on us be it good or bad I really believe this principle holds true even more so for children. Their minds are very young and even more impressionable.

I think the internet and streaming is going to surpass television but here's my opinion. Television shows that include violence I think aren't all that bad. The Walking Dead is violent but it's not some generic zombie show. There are some great characters and writing that goes into that show which gives it some substantial substance. Sex isn't all that bad either, if that's what shows a connection between these two characters then I say have at it.

I do not believe television is all bad. It depends on what you watch and how much you watch. Television can be a benefit or a downfall. I believe that too much of anything can harm you. Television modified is okay. It is up to the individual on how much television is good for them. i have a few shows I watch. The shows i watch fit my style and taste. I can't sit and watch something that isn't my style. I like television that will create a conversation , style and genre. It must be an appealing show to watch. I like moderation. I know when to step back from media all together.

I don't think television is bad, per se, but most of it isn't good either. I haven't turned on a TV in years, but I'll happily subscribe to Netflix. This way I get to skip all the drek and still get to enjoy my favorite shows. For how little I watch TV, even with Netflix, it doesn't make sense to subscribe to an expensive cable package. I wouldn't even watch 90% of the channels.

It really depends on the point of view of a person if he/she would consider it as bad as hell or as good as heaven. TV is such a wonderful help for me and i don't consider it as such as a bad medium for bad influence. Television gives wide range of knowledge from little things to huge things.
Via TV, we can learn about business and we can even learn on how to make a living. Television helps lots of people.

Considering your thought about the bad things about television, We should look into consideration that TV is a helpful thing though there are lots of dark sides of TV also. Honestly it depends on the type of TV show we are watching. If we are watching about biographies and documentaries, indeed we are gaining much knowledge and our brain is comprehending well. If we are watching useless TV shows then probably that's the best time to say that TV indeed is a bad thing for us.

I believe that television, like any other human endeavor, reflects the confusing nature of what we call "human nature". On the one hand, TV allows us to share positive and powerful messages to a global audience quickly. We saw the moon landing, fight for Civil Rights, and great Olympic moments on television. On the other hand, television also caters other aspects of human nature, violence, exploitation, stereotyping, unrealistic expectations, etc. It's a mixed bag (though it tends to sway more toward the negative nowadays).

In a nutshell, it's a nutshell. A television is an object we use to receive signals sent through antenna or cables. It's the humans who have to live with the consequences of those messages.

Yeah, it really depends on what content they are sharing. Literally, television is use for communication, it just happen that people want to add a little more spice thats why they added like porn, comedies etc. It is really up to you what decision you will make, if you think the show is too much then apply your intervention, stop watching.

I believe television is bad for you if it become a higher priority then life itself. Your job and your family comes first. The relationships you build by talking to your loved ones should be a higher priority then watching television.

As far as the content goes, well, that's why it is called entertainment and should be looked and treated as such. Everything on the tube is made to entertain you and take you away for the next few hours. That's it. I should not be the basis of how you live and the future of where you are going.

Television is a from of entertainment and mass communication. Family comes first, Television is not.

Bad for me? Well, as everyone would say that it really depends on certain situations or reasons. It depends on how much time do you spend watching movies and what kind of movies do you see. People who choose to watch than finish what is important in their lives is surely a bad thing while spending time to watch an educational movie or something that will entertain you and make you feel relaxed then that is a good thing. Balance, as they say is that key to everything that we do so that we will not waste something doing nonsense or meaningless things.

I agree with you wholeheartedly the number one shows in America are bathed in murder, adultery, manipulation, and all types of things that are insane. We do have to be careful with what we ingest. There is an old book called The Magic of Believing that talks about how outside forces can influence our beliefs about ourselves and the people around us. Television is not good for the soul.
