Mixed connective tissue disease is an autoimmune disorder, closely related with Lupus, another autoimmune disorder.

2014 was the first time I heard of it.
A relative of mine was diagnosed with mixed connective tissue disease, and it prompted me to research about it online.

White blood cells WBC, which should be protecting the body from germs turn around to attack body cells. Veins and arteries usually come under attack, they thin out and weaken. Any organ affected, weakens and malfunctions.

There's no cure, but it can be managed by suppressing WBC a bit. Patients usually grow lean because their muscles thin out with time.

I read online that there are people who having been living with it for more than twenty years with good medical care.
Some are not so lucky, they die within a year.

    Guess it's all about luck.
