Any genre other than classical is a no for me. Lyrics are too distracting and just get in the way of my learning. I also find strings and piano are better than winds. This is just my personal preference. To me, classical music sets the perfect tone, and if the song is too intense or loud for my taste, I simply change it.

While studying, I actually love listening to rock music which helps me keep in focus to memorize and learn new material.

I'm mostly the same way. Songs with lyrics distract me when I'm trying to actually memorize something. Classical music is my go to, or those lo-fi beats compilations on YouTube, or whatever they are called. Some peaceful, instrumental music will be always my choice for studying.
