There has been a lot of claims about the nature of the Earth whether it's spherical or not. Many scientists believe that the Earth is spherical based on a number of theories. One of those theories is circumnavigation, that a person can travel round the Earth from a starting point and return to the same point where he started. The other theory is that the Earth is a planet and since all the planets are spherical, therefore the Earth is assumed to be spherical. Based on my knowledge of geography, the Earth isn't a perfect sphere. This is because it bulges at the Equator and flattens at the poles.

I've heard scientists say Earth is more pear shaped but the seas conceal the shape of the crust. Regardless of what's true, it's interesting to know that the images of Earth provided by space programs are not typical pictures, they're composites. Meaning one picture formed out of many smaller pictures which strikes me as odd, why wouldn't they also take a regular picture?

The earth is clearly a 3-dimensional hexagon.

The earth is actually an oblate spheroid. This means that it is almost a perfect sphere. But not quite. For one, because of the Earth's rotation, it bulges around the equator. Second, if the Earth was a perfect sphere, we wouldn't have lakes, rivers, oceans, mountains, etc.

Yes, the Earth is spherical. This definition of the shape of the Earth is to give people an idea of how the Earth looks like as some would think that it is flat. However, the spherical shape is not perfect like a football, but instead, it is oblate. It is flattened at both poles and bulged at the Equator owing to the centripetal and centrifugal forces resulting from its rotation on the axis.

The images provided by satellites and the experience of the astronauts demonstrate with sufficient certainty that the Earth is spherical

it isn't a perfect spherical ball. The mountains, the canyons, etc, contribute to a very slight irregularity.
