Answer the poll below on what you think about makeup as an art.
There are some extremely impressive parts of markup that really make me feel it's a work of art, even if makeup is meant to be worn simply for the looks. Learning how to apply it, getting the right equipment, finding what styles match your face, and experimenting hours on end is all part of working with makeup. That's what makes it an art.
Plus, just look at some of these examples. Tell me in my face that these examples aren't works of art.
By the way, nail art is another kind of art I truly value as well. Have a look at some of these.
Lots of creativity for sure! I really do admire those who have the patience and skill for it. Are you a makeup artist by any chance, Wendy?
Makeup is art. I believe that to deny this is to deny the time and skill it takes to master the different techniques involved and the effort it takes to do it well. A simple winged eye is itself quite difficult to achieve and takes hours upon hours of effort to successfully apply, much less a full face of perfect makeup.
That's not to mention the artistry that goes into artforms like cosplay makeup that also require you to be able to apply more complex patterns and imagery.
Makeup absolutely is art. I cannot personally do any sort of extravagant looks, and I respect those that can. It takes lots of practice and planning, and a majority of makeup artists are artists on paper as well. There are so many amazing creations with makeup, and it should definitely be viewed as an art.
Without a doubt, makeup is art. There's so much more to makeup than what people perceive. Makeup involves an impressive amount of artistry. Professionals have dedicated countless of hours of practice to perfect their craft. Not only is the art of putting on makeup difficult, the artists themselves have to consider the facial structures of their clients to match a certain look to that person.
Ultimately, makeup is an art that involves very complicated attention to detail. It should be viewed not as a mere thing people do for fun, but as a form art.
Day to day makeup in and of itself may not be considered super artistic, but the makeup looks that artists spend hours perfecting that are always astounding, that's art. I'll use James Charles as an example here, if you were to see his face and one of his makeup looks painted on a canvas, you would probably think," Wow, that's amazing". So what's the difference? It's almost more impressive on a face since you have to work around the undertones, skin problems, and contouring of the face.
Makeup is art. Makeup artists will often grow the amount of tools they use as there makeup skills advance, much like an artist would as they; earn new things when either painting, drawing etc. Makeup is a form of art because of artistic abilities. Much like those who love to pain and draw.
Makeup is art. I see people do things with makeup that absolutely blow my mind. The fact that you can create the illusion of changing your face shape, your age, etc simply with swiping some colors onto your face? It's mind boggling! And some of the gorgeous designs that people come up with. It is absolutely an art and I hate that I undervalued it for so long.
