    The press service of the British automaker has published a video showing the complete assembly process of the 6.0-liter W12 engine.

    The 6.0-liter W12 engine with two turbines has been installed for many years in the engine compartments of various Bentley models, exactly like in some cars of German Volkswagen and Audi. The published video talks about the production process of this powerful engine. The video begins with the “bare” block showing us, then it begins to “grow” with gears and tubes, and it all ends with showing us the complete motor, to which the transmission, suspension components and brakes are connected.

    The W12 engine owes its existence to the legendary VW VR6 motor. In earlier versions of these power plants with such an arrangement, three blocks of four cylinders were used.

    On the contrary, the engine in the Bentley has four blocks of three cylinders and only two heads per cylinder. To make this possible, there is a narrow angle VR6 on each side of the main V-shaped assembly, which has one crankshaft. Thanks to this, it was possible to create an engine with a large total displacement, but with a relatively small physical size.

    The early stages of engine assembly take place mainly by hand, but with the help of some equipment that makes work easier. The block is on the engine stand, and the technician lowers the crankshaft into place. From there, two working collectively install all 12 pistons. Then they lower the cylinder heads into place.
