When we look at the history of computers, we get to learn that computers have evolved rapidly. Right from the earliest machines such as the abacus, the slide rule and the Nappier's bones, computers have followed a timeline of evolution stages, that have seen the improvement of the machines.
As compared to the earlier computers that were physically large in size with low capability, present day computers are smaller in size, have more functionality and are cheaper.
Just in the same way the human brain evolved day after day, computers are also evolving. In the future, I can imagine of machines that will be able to handle tasks efficiently, just like humans do. I can see the emergence of robots with improved AI, which will be even able to substitute humans in the work place. Complex scientific research will be accomplished with powerful super computers.
In the resent past, we have seen the invention of a smart rover, that has colonized the surface of mass. With its AI, it was able to carry out research, and send information on the surface of the earth.
