An acute myocardial infarction, also called a heart attack, happens when a blood vessel in the heart suddenly becomes blocked. Blood vessels carry blood and oxygen. ... If the ischemia lasts long enough, the heart muscle that is not getting enough oxygen dies. This is called an infarction.

Very good information. A heart is caused by a clog in the artery. The substance that clogs the arteries is known as plaque. The plaque can buildup if you eat unhealthy (such as fried foods). The older you become the more often you have your heart and the arteries in your heart scanned to make sure there is no buildup of plaque.
