Seeing all the kids dress up last week as their favorite book characters for World Book Day made me ponder on how many fantastic authors there are for children these days. The likes of Roald Dahl and JK Rowling are wonderful examples of great quality writers engaging and inspiring children but it got me thinking...who are the lesser known authors that are worth exploring?

My favorite book when I was growing up was The Velveteen Rabbit by Margery Williams. There was just something so magical about a toy being so loved that it came alive.
