If you have an electronic circuit that can make basic mathematical operations, and store the results, it is obvious that you will be tempted to to see how far this circuits can go at solving mathematical problems, therefore real live problems.

Languages that the circuits can understand were born (Assembler), which basically tells the circuits how to handle the data they receive.

Then languages like C were born to generate these data within the circuits, with instructions on how to compute them, with a final purpose, that is producing an answer readable by the programmer or by any human being.

These let to complex programs we know today as BIOS, Operating system, computer program, etc... A set of fields was born each requiring more dedication, in order to improve the relationship between the user and the machine, then between the program and the core part of the machine.
