    I'm surprised there isn't a thread about this already (not that I could find, at least). Anyway, The Political Compass hosts a test where your political views are placed on a chart according to an economic (left and right) and a social (libertarian and authoritarian) dimension. So Stalin, for example, would be on the extremes of left and authoritarianism, as you can see below:
