Which football is the correct one?

Some of you might notice that half of the world understands the word football as the game played with 2 teams consisting of 11 players trying to score a goal with their feet. However, the other half understands it as a game played with 2 teams of 11 players trying to score with their hands by running across the field. Which one is the correct sport for the term football? Which of these 2 sports do you understand when someone says football?

 

I live in the US so when I hear football, I think of the game that has 2 teams, 11 players, that score by running across a field. And when I hear soccer, I think of the kicking sport. But there are some people I know who grew up in different countries, when they say football, I think of the kicking sport.
